Chief Technology Officer Job Description

Summary

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) makes all executive decisions with regard to the technological interests of Polara Health. He/she is responsible for outlining the company's technological vision, implementing technology strategies, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company's business needs, and planning for growth. While ensuring a high level of quality and service with IT operations, the CTO will also seek to find ways to innovate with new technology within Polara Health to help better serve our clients and community. This is a part-time exempt position with an anticipated work week of approximately 20 hours.

Chief Technology Officer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set the technical vision and lead technological development for Polara Health
  • Develop strategic plans and set timelines for evaluation, development, and deployment of all technical, web, and mobile services
  • Identify opportunities for use of cloud technologies, remote work opportunities, and increased use of web and mobile services
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and department heads as an advisor of all technologies involved within Polara Health
  • Ensure technology standards and best practices are met, including compliance with various federal, state and local regulations specific to IT, including HIPAA and CFR 42 Part 2
  • Supervise IT support services to ensure quality, responsiveness to user needs, and develop a continuous feedback loop for process improvement using a framework such as ITIL
  • Work with members of the IT Team to develop and maintain procedure and policy documents governing IT processes and procedures
  • Mentor team members
  • Identify new or unmet organizational technology needs and recommend implementation of new technologies that enhance service delivery to clients
  • Maintain network security with IT team
  • Review time frames and budgets
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plan
  • Supervise workflow of IT department
  • Maintain an awareness of current technology trends
  • Contribute to grant writing and proposal writing process
  • Represent Polara Health at community events and meetings, conferences, and networking events

Chief Technology Officer Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' previous experience as a CIO or CTO with an additional 5 years' in a a software development, networking or other IT role
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers, brand leaders, and other senior management throughout the company
  • Demonstrated ability to align business needs and objectives to technology
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, and management skills
  • Experience with organizational cloud transformation
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering or related field

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • IT experience in a behavioral healthcare setting
  • Experience with writing proposals or grants for technology
  • Experience with remote tele-working
