POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Analyst will help Polara Health make better decisions using techniques from a range of disciplines, including computer programming, mathematics, statistics, and data analysts to draw conclusions from data to describe, predict, and improve business performance and population health. The Data Analyst will create and implement a population health management strategy and getting solid population health analytics in place using healthcare analytics solutions that speed the discovery, visualization, and sharing of data and insights. These solutions will empower Polara Health to unlock the value of the data, better the patient experience, and predict patient outcomes. 

The Data Analyst will have Leadership skills to assist in decision-making and problem-solving tasks. These ability to think strategically about the information that will help stakeholders make data-driven business decisions and to communicate the value of this information effectively.

'Population health is an approach to health that aims to improve the health of an entire human population. A priority considered important in achieving the aim of population health is to reduce health inequities or disparities among different population groups due to, among other factors, the social determinants of health (SDOH). The SDOH include all the factors (social, environmental, cultural and physical) that the different populations are born into, grow up and function with throughout their lifetimes which potentially have a measurable impact on the health of human populations. The population health concept represents a change in the focus from the individual-level, characteristic of most mainstream medicine.'

Data Analyst duties and responsibilities

  • Working with management to prioritize business and information needs and to identify opportunities for process improvement  opportunities
  • Designing and maintaining data systems and databases
  • Collaborate with team members to collect and analyze data
  • Use graphs, infographics and other methods to visualize data
  • Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of business decisions
  • Structure large data sets to find usable information
  • Create presentations and reports based on recommendations and findings that effectively communicate trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data
  • Demonstrated ability to align business needs and objectives to technology
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, and management skills
  • Strong ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle highly confidential information with professionalism
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers, leaders, and other senior management throughout the company

CRITICAL FUNCTIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Education

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, statistics, economics, finance or related field

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' previous experience as a Data Analyst
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus
  • Coding skills in languages such as SQL, Python and/or R
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., Stata, SPSS)
  • Knowledge of data gathering, cleaning and transforming techniques
  • Reporting and data visualization skills using software like Tableau
  • Understanding of data warehousing and ETL techniques
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in high-pressure situations
  • Experience with statistical software
  • Technical writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Ability to QA and troubleshoot data
