Volunteer Coordinator, Senior Peer Program

Our ideal candidate will have experience in working with groups of volunteers and strong organizational skills.  The job requires matching trained peer volunteers to socially isolated seniors in order to improve their lives. B.A. degree preferred but not required, DPS fingerprint clearance card, seniors a plus.  32 hours per week. 

The Senior Peer Program is a prevention program designed to reduce the negative consequences of social isolation and loneliness for older adults aged 60. Services are provided in the Quad City area by volunteers who are also age sixty and above. Volunteers may visit individuals in their homes and/or facilitate support groups or classes.

  • The Volunteer Coordinator helps recruit and train volunteers and oversees their assignments.

  • Conducts in home assessments for new participants and matches to a volunteer and/or a support group.

  • Provides ongoing support to volunteers as issues arise

  • Provides community resources for people who call

  • Oversees and manages monthly reports from volunteers

  • Assists in developing the agenda for monthly volunteer meeting

  • Actively refers to and coordinates with other service providers for older adults

  • Works closely with the program manager to further develop and maintain program services

  • Senior applicants a plus
